CP Eboka Friday of Rivers Police Command disbands Eagle Crack with immediate effect

The Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday has dissolved the controversial and dreaded Eagle Crack Squad popularly called “CP Boys”. This was done this morning after a meeting with his Management Team.
 The dissolution is with immediate effect and all Personnel attached to the Unit are to report to the Headquarters for redeployment.

According to a press statement signed by SP Nnamdi Omoni, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police said “the dissolution is coming on the heels of Complaints of unprofessional conduct exhibited by the Personnel of the Unit.

 “Recall that the CP in his Maiden Press Briefing on Tuesday promised to address all cases of infractions by the Police and increase supervision  of the men, with a stern warning to deal with erring officers and hold DPOs/HODs vicariously liable.”

 The statement enjoined “the public  to rekindle their trust in the Police, as the Command is committed to giving them improved Policing services that will stand the test of time”. 

Our Correspondent reports that the disbandment of Eagle Crack Squad is happening less than 24 hours  after the report of the Operatives of the Squad forgot their Phone inside the Car of a final year student of University of Port Harcourt after extorting N150,000 from him.

It would also be recalled that the some of Operatives of Eagle Crack Squad were indicted for the killing of the Late Chima Ikwunado, the Auto-machenic after  brutally torturing him and his colleagues, popular Ikokwu five in 2019.

The indicted Operatives: including a female Police Sergeant Rose Georgewill, of Eagle Crack Squad have been dismissed and are on trial at the Federal High Court for murder and torture.
