There was a wild jubilation across Ifako ijaiye Local Government when the embattled Chairman of the LGA, Honourable Oloruntoba Oke was returned into office. The entire local government was agog in celebration mood as supporters, well wishers and family of Hon. Oke took to the streets to congratulate him on his return back into office. It could be recalled that Hon. Oke was suspended few months back due to some political circumstances or another. It took the trust reposed in him by leaders of the All progressives Congress (APC) and close political watchers of the LGA to call for his return into office.
Speaking to some residents of Ifako Ijaiye LGA, Town Crier gathered that the good works of Toba Oke ensured that the hierarchy of the party (APC) called upon him to go and reclaim his seat at the Oluwasijibomi Street office of the LGA and the annex on College Road. Hon. Oke, prior to his suspension was said to have embarked on some reasonable and very vital projects meant for the development of Ifako Ijaiye while he has also scheduled some empowerment and employment programmes for the indigents of communities in the Area. It however, came to the surprise of many when they learnt of his suspension and some of them murmured that he should have been left to complete the projects, a pledge he made for the people of Ifako Ijaiye LGA.
With hi return, many residents of the area heaved a heavy sigh of relief, knowing vividly that he would embark on the finishing touches for the infrastructural projects while ensuring his fulfillment of the empowerment and employment programmes. His deputy, Hon. Usman Hamzat has been acting as the Chairman for the period Hon. Oke was temporarily out of office.
Hon. Oloruntoba Oke was once the chairman of the local government and was then assisted by Hon. Babatunde Rahj label (BIQ) before being recalled once again to head the leadership of the LGA. This pointed to the fact that the leadership of the APC has tremendous and absolute trust in his sterling qualities and performance ratio. However, elders of the Ifako Ijaiye community have given kudos to the state government for listening to the yearnings of the constituents by returning their preferred choice as Chairman of their local council.
