Why Wike Meets Ateke Tom

Just weeks ago, when the Rivers state Governor Barr. Nyesom Wike quarreled with his erstwhile political friend and former Minister of Transport Dr. Abiye Sekibo, the governor we learnt ran to Okochiri in Okrika Local Government Area, the home town of Chief Ateke Tom, a former Niger Delta agitator.

The Towncrier has learnt that the governor and Chief Tom met in a closed door meeting, but no one could ascertained why the two met, even as some feelers suggested the meeting may have anchored on the position of the former Transport Minister and his support for former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

For some time now, the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has been having some political battles over the choice of the National Chairman of their party. While Governor Wike is insisting that the national party chairman Senator Ayu gives way for fairness in the geo-political zones, the former vice president and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is therefore silence over the matter and has been going about campaigning  ahead of 2023 general elections in the country.

The Towncrier survey has shown that the Rivers State governor invariably have been having some in and out political fighting with former friends and political enemies alike.
