Dr. Peter Odili is one politician and former governor of Rivers state that cannot be easily pushed over when it comes to politics in the state and across the nation.
He has been nicknamed the Machiavellian of Rivers politics with alliances and contacts in and across the country.
Dr. Peter Odili was the erstwhile governor of the Oil rich state between 2003 to 2007, having governed the state for eight years with friends across the 23 Local government areas that perhaps catapulted him as the godfather of Rivers politics.
The former governor was instrumental to the emergence of Barr. Celestine Omehia when the political permutations to make the former speaker and erst while Governor his political son RT. Hon Rotimi Amaechi failed.
Outside the political development in Rivers state, Dr. Peter Odili may have seen it all when he wanted to become the president of the country in 1999 but was later denied the People democratic party (PDP) ticket by the Obasanjo led federal government.
But onward, in 2015 Dr. Odili fell off with his political son Rotimi Amaechi over son political differences’ and since then the former governor went underground but later resurfaces when another of his political son Barr. Nyesom Wike became a governor courtesy his relationship with the family.
However, his smooth relationship with FCT minister was unwavering not until recently when Barr. Nyesom Wike fell apart with his former political godson Siminalayi Fubara.
Moving forward, Dr. Peter Odili has been in the forefront to reconcile Barr. Wike and his godson but all failed according to sources and since then, the erstwhile Governor Peter Odili has decided to move on with the Fubara led administration especially advising the young governor on where to go and where not to.
In a show of reciprocation, Governor Fubara no doubt has rewarded Dr. Peter Odili family with several juice appointments- his daughter a medical doctor and public health specialist, Dr Adaeze Oreh has been appointed Commissioner for Health in Rivers State.
Also his wife retired Justice Mary Odili was also rewarded for her contributions and consistency and with several largess from the Fubara led administration.
