We’re fully behind Wike’s fight for equity in PDP–Rivers PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has thrown it’s weight behind the decision of Governor Nyesom Wike’s camp to pull out of the Presidential Campaign Council of the party.

The party said as it stands, the national leadership of the party is lopsided in favour of the Northern part of the country.

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Rivers state, Sidney Gbara, who disclosed this said the inequality in the style of leadership of the party and a deliberate attempt to sideline Southerners cannot continue to be tolerated  in the party.

The Spokesman of PDP in Rivers State disclosed this sequel to the the pulling out of the Governor Wike’s group from the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

The camp of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in the PDP had officially announced its withdrawal from participating in the presidential campaign of the party for the 2023 elections after a marathon meeting yesterday.

The group made its position known after a long meeting held on Tuesday evening and rounded off about 3am on Wednesday at the private residence of Governor Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

Members of the group said none of them will participate in whatever capacity in the campaign council unless the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, resigns for a southern candidate.

Some members of the group were recently appointed as leaders and members of the campaign council for the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Political figures that attended the meeting are Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Ondo Governors Olusegun Mimiko, Former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose, Former Cross River Governor Donald Duke, Former Gombe Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo, Former Plateau Governor Jonah Jang, Olabode George,

Others at the meeting are elder statesmen, Olabode George, Jerry Gana, South-South Chairman of the PDP, Dan Orbih, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, Senator Suleiman Nazif, Nnenna Ukeje, Moa Ohuabuwa, among several others.
