TECHNOLOGY’LL BE THE KEY OF OUR GOVERNMENT – TONNIE ANORUEWHOM

By – Memoye Oghu

The Rivers State governorship running mate of the Action Alliance (AA), Barr. Tonnie Anoruewhom has stated that technology will drive the industrial development of the state when his party occupy the Brick House next year.

Barr Anoruewhom, who stated this in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Friday while speaking on the topic “Modern Participation In Politics And The Way Forward” during the sendforth ceremony for final year law students of the Rivers State University observed that development in the state and country have been lopsided because industries are cited far from their raw materials.

The running mate hopeful who represented his principal and the Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate in the state, Dr Dawari George however added that there can be no industrization without peace, pointing out that an AA government in the state will ensure all local government officials reside in their various local government areas so as to adequately deliver the dividends of democracy at the third tier of government.

He went further to say that an AA government in the state shall establish ICT centres every two kilometers in all local government areas throughout the state to fastrack its technological and industrial development.

“We must begin to do the right things in the right ways . . . Every LGA in Rivers state will have automatic internet access. Every local government officer will live in their LGAS, all the LGA chairmen that live in Port Harcourt, every LGA elected official will live in their LGAs.

“Industrialization first starts with technology. Technology is going to be the key of our government. But there can be no industrialization without peace. So, we shall ensure peace and tranquility throughout the state for meaningful development to take place,” he said.

Disagreeing with the Nigerian notion that politics is a dirty and deadly game, he identified Politics as a place of service, good government, employment and evangelism, he advised the outgoing law students to join politics to better the society and the lot of its people.
