Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s Governorship Ambition Gets Boost

The Senator representing Rivers East senatorial District Magnus Ngei Abe is not taking chances as he recently set up a Peace/Re-conciliatory Committee to bring together aggrieved members of All Progressive Congress-APC in Rivers state.

 

The committee swung into action and had done very well in talking to most APC members who the ruling political party in Rivers state PDP had been trying to woo to join them retain Brick House in 2019.

 

Another positive boost is the contribution the Rivers South east KAGOTE FORUM a socio-cultural group made of elites from 4-Local Government Areas that are of Ogoni extraction namely-Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme Local Government Areas led by Dr. Peter Medee a senior Lecturer at University of Port Harcourt.

 

The group is putting up enlightenment campaign to all other 13 ethnic nationalities in Rivers state to support Ogoni people have voice in the leadership and governance of the state by having an Ogoni son or daughter who has indicated interest to be Governor to be so elected since 51-years when Rivers state was created on 27th May, 1967 by Lieutenant General Yakubu Gowon led Military Government.

In a similar vein there has been renewed internal agitation by other socio cultural groups in Rivers state calling for political power shift from Rivers East senatorial District to either Rivers South east or Rivers West senatorial district that has Riverine communities demanding to have one of their sons or daughter elected Governor of Rivers state for the second time since ex Governor Rufus Ada George was elected Governor for less than 2 years in office under National Republican Convention-NRC from 1991 to November 17th 1993.
