Rivers: Two Etche PDP Chieftains Flex Muscle

BY JOHN AMAOWOH

Sequel to the boycott of a purported protest by some self-styled indigenes of Etche Local Government Area, Rivers State, it is now thus clearer that two prominent sons of the area are now flexing muscles over who controls the LGA.

The two prominent sons of the area are all chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and are claiming to control the area in a bid to sustain their political relevancies in the LGA.

The two sons of the area are former commissioner of Education, Chief Allwell Nyenasoh and Elder Statesman Chief Prince Emma Anyawu, also a strong chieftain of the state ruling PDP, who are now divided over some political differences and keeping their loyalists and faithful in control of political happenings in the area.

Investigations conducted by the Town Crier Online, revealed that the recent botched protest by some aggrieved indigenes of the area is allegedly linked or connected to one of the chieftains wrangling for the control of the area even though our efforts to get both sides of the accused on their reactions has proven abortive as at the time of press.

We have however scooped that the botched protest was not going down well with one of the chieftains of the party whose son is a sitting council chairman.

The failed protest was consequent on the level of bad roads in the area that play host to several oil wells scattered across the LGA.

Our independent investigations by Town Crier Online, also revealed that the two PDP chieftains have not made any statement as regards the failed protest but there are indications that the duo may likely address the media due to the unfolding circumstances, even though penultimate week, the council Chairman Obina Anyawu has earlier address a press conference warning on the danger of the protest.
