The quest to provide adequate security for the citizens and residents including properties in Rivers state has led the hardworking Governor of Rivers state Barrister Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike to appoint 8-members of Board of Directors to oversee to the affairs and management of the quasi security outfit in the state. The list includes Retired Brigadier General Dick Ironabara as Chairman, Chief Casca Ogusu member, Mr, Dennis Amachree as member, Professor Emenike Wami as member, Anthony Uzo Ozurumba member, Dr. Uche Mike Chukwuma as Director General. In a similar vein, Mrs Victoria Chikeka was also appointed as member while Barrister Nma Omereji is now secretary and Legal Adviser.
They were inaugurated today Monday 16th of April, 2018. But the opposition political party –All Progressive Congress-APC in Rivers state went to Federal High Court in Port Harcourt state capital challenging some aspects of the clauses relating to the Neighburhood Safety Corps Agency Law. The former Majority Leader of Rivers state House of Assembly Honourable Chidi Lloyd PhD and Engr. Sampson Ngeregbara Chairman of Free Rivers Development Initiatives had come out to say that his political party had gone ahead to set up parallel Neighbourhood Safety Corps Agency having screened 3-retired Commissioners of Police and a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police-AIG and that one of them had been selected to lead some recruits comprising of Rivers state youths who may bear arms.
