The acting chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state, Chief (Dr) Nname Robinson Ewoh says he’s happy to have turned Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike and his loyalists in the state into security guards.
Chief Robinson Ewoh, in an exclusive interview with this publication on Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital also revealed that the state branch of the party has concluded plans to constitute a disciplinary Committee to sanction all erring party members whose actions in one way or the other have brought the party in the state into disrepute.
Explaining why he’s not operating from the state party secretariat in Port Harcourt, he gave the analogy of the two Biblical women who went to King Solomon laying claim to the same baby and said that since they’re the owner of the baby, they won’t want the baby to die.
Hear him: “We’re the owners of PDP; we’re the owners of this state. This state is in our hands, we can’t go and cause trouble anywhere. Unfortunately for them, I’ve turned them to day and night guards. If anyone tells Wike that I’ll turn him into day and night guard would he agree. . . They’re not the owners of the child, they want the child killed. I’ll not help them kill the child.
“You know, for a man like Chukwuemeka Aaron to sleep at the party secretariat when he’s not a security guard. If you go there now he’s there; if you go there in the night he’s there. At the appropriate time I’ll go there and when I’ll go there they won’t know
“So, that place is my own. I won’t go and meet them so that we destroy that place. The security of lives and property is key to our government. So, we can’t follow them, they’re losers,” pointing out that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is a peace loving governor who doesn’t want any crisis in the state, adding that, “only losers cause crisis.”
On the way forward, Chief (Dr) Robinson Ewoh, a former Deputy Majority Leader in the state House of Assembly and currently chairman, Governing Council of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic in Port Harcourt revealed that, “in the next few days I’m going to set up disciplinary Committee. We’re going to look at incidences of anti party activities. Every member of the party that has taken one action or the other that has brought the party to disrepute we will discipline them.”
He accused the state Police Command of being partisan in the ongoing feud between the state governor and the FCT Minister and advised party faithfuls in the state to keep supporting the government of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
When contacted on phone, the embattled state party chairman loyal to Wike, Chukwuemeka Aaron referred our Correspondent to his faction’s Publicity Secretary but refused to oblige him the phone number.
So also the state Police Command’s spokesperson couldn’t be contacted as at press time to comment on why the Police is taking sides in the political feud rocking the state.
It would be recalled that a High Court in the state nullified the state congresses of the party held last year and ordered the state party chairman and others that emerged from those congresses to stop parading themselves as officers of the party in the state.
When Robinson Ewoh and other party faithfuls loyal to incumbent governor stormed the party secretariat to take over, they clashed with the faction loyal to the FCT Minister leading to Police intervention to avert trouble.
But ever since the Police intervention, party faithfuls loyal to the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike have continued to occupy the party headquarters along Aba road in the state capital in the presence of stern looking policemen.
