Supreme Court of Nigeria lambast Appeal court over grant of stay of execution of the Order of Interlocutory Injunction which Justice Chinwendu Nworgu issued on May 30th 2018. Supreme Court Justice Centus Nweze wondered how the Appellate Court grant such when there were several evidence of Contempt of Court by APC in Rivers state led by Ojukaiye Flag Amachree
With this Ruling of Supreme Court, APC in Rivers state does not have candidates for the 2019 General Elections as those that emerged from the Indirect Primaries under Ojukaiye Flag Amachree remain voided and invalid as there were in contempt of Court Order of May 30th 2018. Now that INEC had window for substitution of Candidates, APC National Working Committee (NWC) has options to either present the outcome of Direct Primaries held with Comrade Peter Odike as APC State chairman or conduct fresh Primaries.
Honourable Ojukaiye Flag Amachree, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi faction Rivers APC Chairman said “What the Supreme Court did was to set aside the stay of execution of the court of appeal on an order given by Justice Wogu, which has been overtaken by his judgement. Because after the stay of execution, justice Wogu has given his judgement. However, no court has set aside the perpetual injunction by Justice A.O Musa of the federal high court Abuja. So party members should keep calm as it’s just an academic exercise with no effect.”
