The chances of Senator Magnus Abe, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship Aspirant emerging as the flag bearer has been further tightened as an Abuja High Court 14 presided over by His Lordship, Hon. Justice A. O. Musa on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 granted an Order of Perpetual Injunction restraining the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the National Chairman, His Excellency (Comrade) Adams Oshiomhole (1st and 2nd Defendants) from ‘tampering with the mandates of the elected Officials/Delegates elected at the 1st Defendant’s Ward, Local Government and State Congresses in Rivers State on May 19, 20 and 21, 2018 respectively.
The Court further said that perpetual injunction restrains APC from held in the aforementioned dates either by nullifying, removing or in any way refusing to give effect to the outcome of the said congresses or by purporting to conduct another congress in respect of Rivers State.”
In the copy of the injunction order made available to our Correspondent today in Port-Harcourt, the Court also affirmed the validity of the congresses, which took place May 19, 20 and 21 and subsequently culminated in the election of Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree State Executive Committee with such congresses having been conducted in compliance with the constitution of the APC (1st Defendant).
It therefore ordered that both 1st and 2nd Defendants (APC and its National Chairman) are bound to give effect to the outcome of the said congresses.
Recall could be made that Senator Abe and his supporters have been at daggers -drawn against the outcome of the wards and state congresses that elected Ojukaye Flag Amachree and his executives and approached a High Court in Port-Harcourt seeking to nullify the Congresses and by extension void the emergence of the state executives of the party.
Senator Abe and his supporters on Friday August 17, 2018, in rejection of the leadership of Ojukaye Flag Amachree set up a parallel State secretariat by Waterlines Junction on Aba/Port-Harcourt Expressway with Prince Peter Odike as it factional Chairman.

The Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and former Governor of Rivers State had said that he would not support the aspiration of Senator Abe to become Governor because the party had agreed that after the upland had produced Governors since 1999 to date, it should be the turn of the Riverine popularly known as Upland and Riverine dichotomy in power rotation.
However, Senator Abe and his supporters argue that the Ogonis have never been Governors since the creation of the state over 50 years ago. And it only fair and just for Senator Abe to be the next Governor from 2019.
Peter Odike who is ardent supporter of Abe and was the Deputy Chairman to Davis Ikanya became a factional Chairman for the Abe’s camp.
It would be recalled that following the controversy generated by the May 2018 Ward, Local Government and State Congresses of the APC in Rivers State, the State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree and his Exco approached the Abuja High Court in Suit No. FCT/HC/BW/CV/115/2018 seeking injunction against the APC, Its National Chairman, NWC/NEC from tampering with the Rivers State Exco of the Party until all pending matters regarding the congresses are resolved. Before the Abuja High Court perpetual injunction, the national Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole officially rejected Abe’s factional Executive as all Correspondences have been addressed to Ojukaye Flag Amachree.
Flag Amachree has announced the sale of nomination forms for Aspirants vying for the various elective offices under the platform of APC.
Two days ago APC stakeholders lead by Amaechi endorse Tonye Dele Cole as the preferred candidate for APC in Rivers State, which Abe is vehemently opposed to and vowed to resist.
