Rivers 2023: Tertiary institutions lecturers endorse Sen. Magnus Abe

In an unprecedented move never before seen in the politics of Rivers State, over 500 lecturers, including professors, from all the tertiary institutions in Rivers State yesterday gathered at the Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship Event Center on Aba Road, Port Harcourt, to endorse Senator Magnus Abe for Governor.

The lecturers and professors came from all the institutions of higher learning in Rivers State, including Rivers State University, University of Port Harcourt, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rivers State College  of Health Science and Management Technology and Federal Technical College Omoku.

Under the auspices of Progressive Lecturers Network (PLN), they gathered in their numbers, defied fear and intimidation and stood up to be counted, in order to salvage Rivers State from the throes of backwardness.

Delivering a lecture titled “Changing The Nigerian Political Narratives:A Wake up call for Lecturers” during the event,  Prof. Edward Adiele stated that the time has come for lecturers to stand up and play leading roles in the quest to make our society better through active participation in political activities.

He also said that having dispassionately assessed all the Governorship candidates in the race, only Senator Magnus Abe stands out in terms of the quality of his programs for the state and clear pathways to achieve them, hence, decision of the lecturers to stand with him.

Responding, Senator Magnus expressed gratitude to the lecturers for identifying with, and endorsing him, stressing that by their actions they have followed the tradition of the academics of old who were behind most of the revolutions that changed the course of history for the better.

Never in Rivers State has such a thing happened. People from every segment of the Rivers community are boldly coming out to support the aspiration of Senator Magnus Abe to offer knowledge-.based leadership to the state and helping the SDP Governorship to build unstoppable momentum into the election.
