The recent announcement of defection to Peoples Democratic Party-PDP by Elder Musa Elekwa a onetime Chairman of All Progressive Congress-APC Etche Local Government Area Chapter in Rivers state is still reverberating in the political landscape of Rivers state. Elder Musa Elekwa whose son made a First-Class grade in a University in the United Kingdom while in his final year nearly could not have graduated if not the timely intervention by the incumbent Governor of Rivers state Nyesom Ezenwo Wike who helped in settling his son’s school Fees of Nineteen Thousand United States of America Dollars-USD$19,000 was instrumental to his defection to PDP late in 2017. Towncrier.ng gathered that while Elder Musa was in need of financial assistance of the tune of USD$19, 000 in payment of his son’s School Fees he was said to have approached the Leader of APC in Rivers state and South-South Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for finding a solution but his pleas met brick wall as it was only Two thousand United States Dollars –$2,000 that was delivered to Elder Musa Elekwa leaving him with a balance of USD$17, 000 with nowhere to find it.
It was also said that the Etche born politician went to Dr. Adol Dakuku Peterside who never gave him a listening ear. The Nigerian maritime Administration and safety-Agency-NIMASA at Lagos was only interested in advancing only twenty Thousand Naira N20,000 of christmas package to all All Progressive Congress –APC Ward leaders and their executives. How the PDP led government of Governor Wike got to rescue Elder Musa Elekwa was shocking to him and when he was invited to Government House Port Harcourt where the sum of $19,000.00 was released to him and the sum of Ten Million naira –N10, 000 000.00 as stipend to enable him settle down. It was at that same meeting that Governor Wike asked Elder Musa Elekwa “where is daughter who had already finished school? We have job to offer her, kindly bring her for a job placement and whenever your son completes his education and gets back home let us know so that we can fix him here in Rivers state”. Elder Musa Elekwa was so elated and excited as he was driven home by his driver with full assurance coming from Governor Wike that with this goodwill.
Upon deliberation with his political followers of All Progressive Congress –APC in Etche Elder Musa Elekwa was said to have arranged for his defection from APC to PDP quietly and got the news out to the media on time which pleased Governor Wike.
