Oyigbo Crisis: Four suspects nabbed for looting Afam Police Station

* 21 inch television, radio speakers, and the Uniforms of the DPO of Afam Police Station

Four suspects have been paraded at the Rivers State Police Command  who allegedly looted the Afam Police Station during the attack on some Police Stations in Oyigbo Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni, while parading the suspects said the success was recorded following the marching order by the CP, Joseph Mukan to bring perpetrators of the  wanton destruction at all the police Station that were attacked in Oyibo to book.

He said the suspects had confessed to the crimes and they would be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for further investigation to aid the police in fishing out other suspect.
The four suspect denied directly participating in the destruction of the Police Station but  agreed that they helped some suspects that looted to keep some of the looted goods.

John Ime is a 28 years old vigilante who was accused of aiding a suspect that stole money from a dead Policeman’s pocket to escape, denied aiding the suspect and said the suspect escaped when he went to take a bath. (Discretion advised) Pix : The Policeman butchered and his money in his pockets shared by the hoodlums to which Ime allowed suspect in his care to escape.

42 years old Sunday  said: “I see the Television from a nearby fence and took it home and Police came to my house and arrested me.

Mr Ibe said this Speaker was found in his tenant’s poultry cage, when the Police came to the house they did not meet the woman’s husband and arrested him because they said he is the landlord of the house and he should take care of his property or produce the owner of the poultry. He said the husband to the woman was not around when the Police came, the wife of the man was at the clinic with a sick child, but that the Police insisted they would arrest him.

46 years old Chima said he is a security man, that on his way from work he met people carting away things from the station and he entered and saw the uniforms of Police and carried it and throw it in one room. But the police that arrested him said the DPOs uniform was recovered from his house.

However, after several probing questions from Journalists he later admitted that he stole DPOs uniform for safe keeping.

 Items recovered from the suspects include: 21 inch television, radio speakers, and the Uniforms of the DPO of Afam Police Station.
