Opeyemi Bamidele Shot at Reception For Fayemi in Ekiti

A former member of the House of Representatives and former governorship aspirant, Opeyemi Bamidele and two other unidentified persons were Friday shot at a reception for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, at the party’s secretariat in Ado-Ekiti

The shots were allegedly fired by a trigger-happy Mobile Policeman. An eyewitness who was at the event said that the cop was trying to protect VIPs from being mobbed by touts who were seeking to obtain money when he fired shots that accidentally hit Bamidele on the hand.

One other person was hit at the chest area. “It looked like the touts tried to take his riffle from him and in the process the shots were fired,” the source, who wanted anonymity, said.

Angry party men almost lynched the policeman after the incident but he was safely taken away by his colleagues

Fayemi, Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, deputy governorship candidate, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi were not wounded.
