DELTA State Governor,
Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed confidence that all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) will be quartered within a vicinity to ensure efficiency in service delivery as he Inspects Level Of Work At Multi-Billion Naira Secretariat Complex, Roads, Others.
Governor Okowa made the disclosure today,January 11,while inspecting on-going work at a multi-billion naira secretariat complex in
Asaba.
According to the Governor, “when people talk about star projects, we wonder what they mean because, what we look at before engaging in the execution of any project is the benefits of such projects to Deltans; over N12 Billion is being spent for the construction of this Secretariat which on completion, will house 27 MDAs to ensure development, management and ease of communication between government agencies.”
“The Secretariat when completed will be a complex of 6 floors and as you can see, 90 per cent of the workers at the site are sourced locally, this is what gives me joy and the contractors have assured us that the project will be delivered within two years,” the Governor said, adding, “we are carrying out inspection of projects because we are committed to ensuring that projects are delivered to specifications and will stand the test of time.”
Governor Okowa who also, inspected the construction of Fear God Street (Bonsaac) and construction of Pat Kanayo Okonta Street/Amaechi Uzuegbu Street/part of Nze Francis Street/Onwa Nwa Chinemelu Street, Phase 1, Asaba in Oshimili South local government area, expressed confidence at the level of work being done at the sites, noting that the box culvert drains would ensure that flood water are properly channeled in the area.
He observed that the area is densely populated and requires government infrastructure, assuring that the State Universal Basic Education Board will work in union with the traditional rulers to provide public schools in the area.
The Governor who was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Chairman of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Barr. Kingsley Esiso, the member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, some members of the state executive council was applauded by residence of the areas visited for providing amenities in their areas.
He also, inspected the level of work done at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba preparatory to the 2018 edition of Confederation of African Athletics’ [CAA] organised African Senior Athletics Championship which will be hosted by the state.
