The real reasons the incumbent Minister for Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is undertaking vigorous enlightenment campaign in the South eastern region of Nigeria may not be unconnected with his personal ambition of contesting for Presidential election in 2023.
The Ubima Ikwerre Rivers state born politician who has been re-appointed for a second time as Director General President Muhammadu Buhari’s 2019 Presidentail Campaign organization is hell-bent in returning President Buhari back to Aso Rock Villa an achievement which is well articulated to catapult him Minister For Transportation to pick up the Igbo 2023 presidential Ticket slot.
This revelation came up when in his 52nd Birthday Church Thanksgiving at CKC Catholic Church Sangana street Diobu Port Harcourt in June 2017 Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi told his teeming supporters and parishioners that “I am an Igbo but not Biafra” after he admonished Igbos to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s current administration while essential projects will be addressed in the South Eastern region.
Again in March, 2018 Amaechi was a guest to an Igbo Organization an organized Lecture at Anambra state where he repeated same rhetoric of clamouring for support for President Muhammadu Buhari while asserting his Igbo origin when he challenged Distinguished Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe saying My name is Chubuike Amaechi and I am Igbo man who is more Igbo than me is he “Abaribe”or “Amaechi” the audience roared with applause of affirmation.
In his home state Rivers state Amaechi was instrumental to removing ex President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan a Peoples Democratic party-PDP member from office in his bid to be re-elected for a second term as President of Nigeria on March 28, 2015 while working for the success of a Fulani Presidential candidate under All progressive Congress-APC Muhammadu Buhari who later won overwhelmingly.
The above scenario matched the presidential ambition of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi in 2023 of which the Igbos of south Eastern Nigeria are demanding for as a way of all inclusiveness in the Nigerian project of “No Victor No Vanquished” after the end of 1967 to 1970 Nigerian-Biafran Civil war was fought.
If all goes according to his plans the Minister for Transportation will surely clinch the Presidential ticket if and only if President Muhammadu Buhari is returned to Aso Rock Villa for a second Term. And per adventure he losses the presidential re-election in 2019 that will spell doom for Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi political dynasty in Nigeria except he resurrects another opposition political party that will guarantee him the ticket for 2027 presidential ticket in Nigeria.
