Just in: 2020 Democracy Day Activities: Bayelsa holds Church Service.

Bayelsa State Government today , Sunday June 7, kicked off activities to mark the 2020 Democracy Day celebration with a church service held at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa.

The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, stood in for Governor Duoye Diri.

Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Gloria Diri, was also in attendance alongside other top government functionaries.

In a brief exhortation, Pastor Godswill Asingba, admonished those in leadership positions to always work with God and allow Him direct their steps, particularly when taking critical decisions.

In a remark, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, emphasised the need for the nation to reflect on the lessons and virtues the new democracy day of June 12th stand for.

He expressed the worry that those age long issues of injustices and oppressions have remained with us as a nation and that the annual celebration would only have a meaning when they those issues were genuinely addressed.

Prayers were offered for the nation, Bayelsa State and all those in leadership positions in the country.
