Just as his late mother Hon. Risikat Ajoke Adegeye, George Olawande Adegeye son of the undisputed and insurmountable king of Juju music, Chief Sunday Adegeye globally known as King Sunny Ade has won the election to represent Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency.
In the final result released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adegeye of the Labour Party polled 46,702 of the valid votes cast to defeat Prince Lanre Sanusi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 12,946 votes.
The People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Oghene Ego who is a serving member of the House of Representatives came a distant third with 5,752 votes. The Returning Officer of Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, Professor Abayomi Okanlawon declared Adegeye as the winner of the vote at the Collation Centre in the area.
Adegeye dedicated his victory to his late mother who was a member of Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency whom he said has been immortalized by the win.
He said, “It was indeed a journey worth going and the end was very rewarding,” he said. I have reiterated severally that I am on a mission to accomplish my late mother’s wish to liberate the good people of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency. You all have given me the privilege and I promise to use it judiciously,”.
