Insecurity: Atiku attacks Tinubu, says ‘step aside if the shoe is too big for you’

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday attacked President Bola Tinubu over insecurity in the land, saying the president should step aside if the shoe of governing Nigeria is too big for him.

This comes a day after the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde attacked Atiku for being insensitive and lacked empathy for not commiserating with the state over the Ibadan explosion.
Atiku, in a tweet, accused Tinubu of playing fiddle while the nation is drowning in the ocean of insecurity.

He cited cases of kidnappers killing a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90 million ransom and the killing of two monarchs in Ekiti State as examples of how insecurity had ravaged the land.

“Tinubu is playing fiddle while Nigeria is drowning in the ocean of insecurity. To imagine that the Commander-in-Chief is on a so-called private visit while kidnappers kill a nursing mother and grandmother in Abuja for failing to pay N90m ransom and two monarchs in Ekiti, among other regular tragedies besetting Nigerians.

If the shoes are too big for Emilokan, he should step aside. Nigeria does not need another Tourist-in-Chief. The country needs 24/7 leadership to confront the pervasive insecurity and collapsing economy,” Atiku tweeted.
However, Makinde, in attacking Atiku, he lacked empathy and sensitivity for failing to condole with the state, saying that it was “insensitive” for him not to offer any condolences or even acknowledge the tragedy.

According to him, Atiku’s silence sent a troubling message about his character and judgment.

Makinde said of the three major presidential candidates in the 2023 election, President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of Labor Party (LP) had both reached out to commiserate with him and the people of Oyo state except Abubakar of the PDP.

He regretted that it was his own party’s presidential candidate that had yet to reach out to him despite being in the same party.
