INEC Holds Supplementary Elections Alongside Governorship Election On 9th March

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled 9th March, 2019 to conduct  supplementary  elections in areas where such  poll was cancelled last Saturday.

INEC National Commissioner for information and voter education, Festus Okoye, said, supplementary elections will be conducted alongside the governorship and state houses of assembly elections.

He said, “Consequently, the meeting decided that supplementary elections will be conducted in all areas where elections did not take place and/or where returns could not be made on Saturday, 9th March, 2019 alongside the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections,” Okoye said in a statement issued  and obtained by www.towncrier.ng on Friday. 

Some of the places where the supplementary elections will hold include Akuku-Toru and Bonny local government areas in River state as well as other parts of Lagos and Anambra states.

 It will be recalled that INEC cancelled elections in some areas as a result of violence, which prevented the commission from deploying personnel and materials for the exercise.
