I have No Anointed Candidate In Ekiti -Tinubu

I

National leader of All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has revealed that he has no anointed candidate in the coming Ekiti state governorship primary election.

Tinubu who made the revelation while addressing journalists on Saturday, while participating at the APC Ward Congress at St. Peters Primary School, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos said he has no anointed candidate hence everyone aspiring and contesting for the governorship position are very dear members of the party and they deserve the right to participate.

“I believe those in charge of the primary election in Ekiti will do the right thing. About 33 of them in all and we only need one of them for governorship. We have had leadership discussions. I like the fact that they showed up respectfully and are all committed to the peace and stability of the party in that state.

“The feelers that we are getting are that things have been going on smoothly. We have responsible leadership around there. Sincerely, I had wanted to be in Ekiti but when you have this situation where Congress is holding the same time their primary election is holding, charity begins at home, I must stay in Lagos to ensure that I help the party here. There are capable leaders over there that will see to the smooth conduct of the primaries in Ekiti,” he stated.

Tinubu said he is very happy and proud of his party because its members are demonstrating to the people across the country that the party is a law-abiding political party by believing in the tenets of democracy as demonstrate the openness in the congresses across the country.

“Particularly, I can speak emphatically on Lagos. Things are going according to plan, very open and transparent process. They queue up behind whoever they want, no pre-ordained candidate. The turn-out is very impressive. The membership of the party is growing in leaps and bounds, and open to all democrats who want to identify with us. This is one of the best ways to energize the party that is almost remaining dormant at the grassroots level and you could see the sense of belonging and the energy and activities of the ordinary people. It is a great joy for me,” he noted.

The former Lagos State governor said until the various officials who are here to conduct the congresses write their reports, his own admonition is to continue to appeal to party members to conduct themselves peacefully and to comply with the rule of law, advising that If they have any complaints, they should write to the party headquarters and should not take laws into their hands.
