Governors Wike, Fayemi Trade Jokes About ‘Struggle’ For Nigeria’s Democracy, Road Projects

Governors Wike Nyesom of Rivers State and Fayemi Kayode of Ekiti State had an encounter where they traded jokes about their roles in government.

As Fayemi stepped into the room, Wike who was already seated started teasing him about his method of operation.

Wike said, “When you want to run for governor, you come here, whenever you win…”

“No, dis one no be for governor, Ask am, wich time we start our struggle.” Fayemi interjected in Pidgin English.

“Since the struggle, you don see am again? No be surprise say you see am now?” Wike asked Fayemi, who wondered why it would be a surprise to see his ‘struggle’ companion.

He added, “If we didn’t do what we did, you think say you go dey office now?”

To which Wike responded, “Wetin you do? You come do now, e come worse pass how Nigeria dey before.”
