Governor Wike please relax 24 hours curfew in Oyigbo LGA we are dying of hunger, medicare–Oyigbo residents cry out

Residents of Oyigbo in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers  where the Military is conducting operations for more have again passionately cried out to Governor Nyesom Wike to relax the 24 hours Curfew to enable buy food and seek medicare urgently.

All the residents of Oyigbo who called into a Port Harcourt based Nigeriainfofm complained of inability to move in search of food and seek urgent medicare.

“My name is Nnamdi, the Army has taken over the Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway junction Oyigbo Junction and the Soldiers there have mounted a blockade with sandbags. From Oyigbo Junction  to the Mbano camp there’s no single shop or market that is opened. We cannot access anything like food, light and Water. The level of suffering here is unimaginable. People have resorted to soaking Garri morning, afternoon and evening. What about those who have access to Garri?”

He expressed anger that what is obtainable in Oyigbo now is “silence of the grave yard” is what some people are calling calm or normalcy where there is no absolute restriction of movement.

Another Caller who gave his name as Prince appealed to humanitarian agencies and nongovernmental agencies, humanrights groups, Amnesty International and Journalists to have you tour round of Oyigbo, if the military will permit, so they will see things for themselves.

Madam Eke also called to say that they they have been surviving on havesting People’s unmatured Bananas,Plantain and Yams to survive. She said even there’s small money in  bank accounts,there no banks,ATM and POS working in Oyigbo 

“Let the Governor relax the 24 hours Curfew to 6 pm to 6 am so people can go about their businesses also look for food to eat. As we speak,there has not been power supply the area despite that the biggest power plant in Afam is located in Oyigbo”. 
Another one who said his name is  Ikechi said  “Governor Wike should at least visit Oyigbo since devastation caused by the suspected members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the  military and see first hand the level of havoc done to the psyche of the people”.

However,the Rivers State Police command has debunked rumors of extra-Judicial killing in the ongoing joint security operations in Oyibo Local Government Area.

The State Command Police Public Relations Officers, SP Nnamdi Omoni, in a said he was at  Oyibo on Sunday for on-the-spot assessment of the situation and there is nothing like killing of residents as reported in the social media.

He said the challenge most residents have is as a result of the 24 hours curfew imposed on Oyigbo by the Governor forced people to remain indoors and can’t come out to get food.I was  in front of St. Paul’s Catholic Church,where people  worshipped unhindered.

Omoni, said also confirmed that some of the looted items from the Divisional Police Officer’s office in Oyigbo and items looted from the crime scenes of vandalized Police Station have been recovered and suspects who confessed to killing a Police Officer also arrested. 

He said infact the operations is yielding results, “we have arrested a suspect who confessed to killing the Police Officer and collected money from his pockets.  We have also recovered the DPOs uniforms and some Police uniforms looted from the stations, we have recovered TV Sets, rifles from some of the suspects”. he added.

Recall that Major Charles Ekeocha the 6 Division of Nigerian Army headquarters Public Relations Officer APRO told Journalists that the decision to go to Oyigbo was to recover stole weapons stolen from the Six slain Army Officers.
