Governor Wike, Dickson preach Love, sacrifice and Peace at Christmas

Rivers  State Governor, Wike, Dickson preach Love, sacrifice and Peace at Christmas. Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and Serianke Dickson his Bayelsa Counterpart  have urged  Nigerians to use this year’s Christmas to promote love, friendship, peace and reconciliation. 

In a Christmas Message, Governor Wike said the season exemplifies love, advising that Nigerians should always  love one another.

He particularly urged Rivers people to use this year’s Christmas to erect  platforms  of love, peace  and reconciliation for the greater development of the state.

The governor advised Rivers people  to pray for the state to enjoy greater peace for the state government  to consolidate on her developmental programmes  that have made the state first amongst equals.

He assured the people of the state that he will remain  focused in his delivery of pro-people projects and programmes to improve their standard of living. .

The governor noted that his administration has used the Christmas season to flag off the execution of key projects in different parts of the State for the good  of the people.

While wishing  Rivers people a Merry Christmas, Governor Wike assured them of their security all through the season as they celebrate  the birth of Jesus Christ.

A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Rivers State Governor on Electronic Media noted that the governor has already ignited the spirit of Christmas in the State by lighting the Christmas Tree at the Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, Nigeria’s Leading Tourism Destination.

On Friday, December 22, 2017, Governor Wike, his wife, Justice Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike and about 16000 Rivers people participated  in the glorious Rivers Christmas Carol tagged Hosanna 2017 in Port Harcourt.

On his part,Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State felicitated with Christians as they celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.                                                         

 In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Francis Agbo, Governor Dickson urged Nigerians to live a Christ-like life, which he noted was a life of sacrifice, selfless service, love and forgiveness.

He called on Nigerians and particularly, Bayelsans to use the Christmas celebration to intensify prayers for the peace and security of the state and the nation in general.

The Governor also called on political leaders to emulate Jesus Christ, who used his ministry for the good of all, by using their offices to advance the cause of the ordinary people.

He said “Service to man is service to God; he that serves man well, serves God well. Jesus Christ used his earthly ministry for the common good of humanity and above all, died for our sins. Our faith would have been in vain if Jesus had not sacrificed himself for us all. I therefore call on political actors and privileged Nigerians to always work for the good of the people and do things that would foster unity in the country”

He said 2018 was critical to finishing strong on the mandate of the Restoration Government and called on Bayelsans to as usual, support and collaborate with his government to keep delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.
