Governor Diri declares zero tolerance for lawlessness, criminality, destruction of public properties in Bayelsa

Pre-Governorship Inauguration Violence on February 14

By Ibrahim Bakare

The Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri has taken an assessment tour to ascertain the level of destruction following the supreme court judgment that spike violence by aggrieved members of the public over the sacking of Chief David Lyon as Governor-elect of the state on February 14.

Senator Douye Diri while condemning the level of destruction of public and private properties in the guise of politics, tied the violence to the speech of national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole challenging the judgment of the court and insisted that “no body was going to be sworn in as governor in the state”.

The Governor who recounted the incidents of the violence attack on PDP supporters in Nembe Local Government Area during his campaign, said the APC has always been known for violence in the state.

Douye Diri cautioned the National and State Leadership of the APC to be guided of their utterances as not to hit up the polity with words that will spike violence in the state, adding that his administration will not condole any form of lawlessness, criminality and destruction of public and private properties anymore.

Among the properties invaded and vandalized by angry APC thugs include: State owned Radio Bayelsa along Ekeki road Yenagoa, Governor Diri’s properties, private house and Properties of immediate past Governor Seriake Dickson, Dr. Steve Azaiki’s Library along Mgbi road, Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and others.
