Governor bows to Labour Governor Wike/Labour allegedly Reach Truce to Avert Industrial Action

*Wike buckles after the labour leaders made him realize the huge implications of impending Labour crisis


*Agrees to unseal NLC Secretariat locked since February 3, Medical and Health Workers Union sealed about a week ago

The proposed industrial crisis and public protest by the national leadership of the organised labour may have  been averted because of the reached a truce with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

Recall the governor had earlier on Monday evening entered into a closed door meeting with labour leaders to avert it’s planned protest billed for Tuesday, 8th September and subsequent strike which it said will cripple economic activities in the state.

Governor Wike buckles to Labour power

A source who was privy to the resolutions reached at Monday’s meeting with labour at the Government House in Port Harcourt said Governor Wike alleged agreed to unseal the NLC Secretariat that was locked up since February 3,2020 for phantom integrity test and also agreed to pay all withheld salaries and pensions.

According to our source, Blboth parties also agreed to set up a labour and government committee to oversee labour matters.The proposed strike has also been suspended, according to our source.

It also gathered labour will still meet with workers on Tuesday. Both parties are yet to make public the outcome of their meeting.
