Governor Siminalayi Fubara storms Rivers State House of Assembly
amidst barrage of teargas cannisters and water Cannon shot at him and his entourage vows to defend the mandate by Rivers people.
Speaking on a elevated podium Fubara said: “On my way said to this place(Assembly Complex)I was shot at with live bullets and teargas, but I don’t mind a person will die in one way or the other.
He challenged those behind moves to impeach him to tell Rivers people his alleged offences.
Speaking amidst crowd of supporters, he said;
“If I am impeached today, I won’t be the first or the last Governor to be impeached. But I can assure Rivers people that I will stand and defend their mandate. So that you enjoy the dividends of democracy.”
Rumours of a rift between Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike have been brewing for some time now.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Monday said he has not committed any offence to warrant impeachment by the Rivers State House of Assembly.
“Let them come out and tell Rivers people the offence I have committed to warrant any impeachment,” the governor said while addressing his supporters at the Assembly Complex.
The governor, who assured the people of the state of getting the dividends of democracy, said he would speak on the matter at the appropriate time.
“Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press,” he said.
The House members led by their Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, served an impeachment notice on Fubara before they fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex.
Addressing his supporters, who protested the development outside the Assembly Complex, the governor said he has not done anything to warrant an impeachment proceeding by the Assembly.
The development occurred hours after a fire broke out at the Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
The breaking news from the Rivers State House of assembly states that the governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara is said to have been served a notice of impeachment.
A viral video covering the Governor leading an entourage to the House of Assembly Complex showed him being shot teargas cannisters water Cannons.
At the time of filing this report the Governor was moving towards the assembly complex this morning.
It is all it was also alleged that the Leader of the House of Assembly, Hon.Edison Ehie, has been impeached, while three other lawmakers have been suspended.
Our correspondent reports that as the Governor has caught in a live viral video was moving to the Rivers of House of Assembly assembly there was a viral video. It was not clear if he will be allowed into Rivers assembly complex.
