FRSC bans “SPY” inscribed number plate

The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Commission Rivers State Command has banned the use of ‘SPY’ inscribed number plate, with immediate effect.

The Corps Commander Salisu Umar Galadunci rss, in line with the earlier directive of the Corps Marshal banning categories of number plates like SPY, SUG, PEACE AMBASSADOR,.NYCN, etc and the recent IGP’s directive, so stated.

This was contained in a press statement from the command, signed by its Sector Public Enlightenment Officer, Ag Deputy Rout Commander Juliana. Eni, and made available to newsmen.

Explaining further, he reminded motorists within his area of jurisdiction, especially Rivers State of the total ban use of “SPY” inscribed vehicle number plate by vehicle owners across the country.without exception regardless of status or organisation.

According to Corps Commander Galadunci, “all previous permits obtained for such plates, are hereby revoked.

” This directive became necessary to forestall security, and the continued disregard for traffic rules and regulations and other extant laws guiding road use by individuals hiding under the privileges of use of “SPY” number plates, he instructed.

The Sector Commander further reminded security agents attached to Very Important Personalities VIPs and others, who use the number plates, to immediately withdraw and desist from using it, and to ensure prompt compliance with the directive or risk arrest, or vehicle impounded for violation of this order.

Mr Galadunci advised those who are using the “SPY”, faded or old number plates, to immediately replace them with new ones, so as to avoid impounding their vehicles, warning that FRSC officials are keeping eagle’s eye, are going to be all out for enforcement.

“To be forewarned is to be forearmed,” he concluded.
