The Rivers State Director of Nigeria in Diaspora for Asiwaju (NDA) Olagoke Raheem has urged Nigerians to forget about politics of sentiments, religion, ethnicity and otherwise, but to think of a credible individual with longtime experience that will fix the country to the envy of other nations.
SpeakingĀ at the body general meeting/ sensitization of members in Port Harcourt, Raheem said the need for continuous sensitization and constant meetings became necessary because of the peculiar nature of the Niger Delta region and the need to bring every person(s) onboard, adding that for some time now, there had been some political alignment and realignment, following the aftermath of the presidential primaries that saw the emergence of AlhajiĀ Ahmed Bola Asiwaju Tinubu as the standard bearer of the ruling All Progressive Congress Party (APC).
He maintained that it is understood that politics is sometimes centred on the premises of differences, sentiments, ideology and interest, but said sometimes these issues are drum up by some selfish politicians for selfish reasons to divide the electorates but observed that as a people we have outgrown these issues that some selfish individual*(s) used.
āI can recall what happened in the primaries that saw the former Governor of Lagos state Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerge. The political tension was high even though things is gradually returning to normal. Although, our body have been existing. But, you all understand what politics is aboutā
ContinuingĀ he saidĀ ” in Politics, there are interests, ethnicity, religion, sentiments and ideology and this is all about the game. But, we must go past these by thinking of some one that understands the system better and that man is senator Ahmed Tinubuā he said.ā
Raheem further stated that outside sentiments and religion Senator Tinubu still stands a Better test when compared to other candidates, explaining that the exemplary track records of senator Tinubu in Lagos and in the business world speaks volume about his candidature.
Also speaking at the congress, an Elder and frontline politician, Alhaji Aremu, expressed joy for the level of turnout by members despite the heavy downpour, saying that it is a well known fact that it is only those without vision and mission that misses out in the right schemes of things, even as he however called for effective mobilization, unity and togetherness in the task ahead.
āI can tell you that affecting mobilization, unity and vision is a good rewarding system, because to whom much is given, much is expected. We must have direction and focus, āHe said.
Speakers after speakers stressed on the need for an effective door to door campaign for the tasks ahead.
