Federal High Court denies Nnamdi Kanu bail

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has refused to admit the leader of the Indigenous People’s of Biafran, Nnamdi Kanu to bail.

The Judge held that Mr Kanu must account for his whereabouts over the years when he was first granted bail but refused to attend his trial.

The court disagreed with the defendant that he escaped out of the country when Nigerian armed soldiers allegedly invaded his ancestral home in Abia State.

On the amended charges, Justice Binta Nyako, held that the prosecution can not at every opportunity decide to amend the charges of the defendant

Although provisions of ACJA allows for amendment of charge at any point of the trial , there must be a stop to it.

This amendment will be the sixth amendment made by the prosecution.
