FEAR GRIPS RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR SIMINIALAYI FUBARA

By Ibinabo Tom

“I WILL RESIGN IF—IT WIL BRING MORE PEACE”—FUBARA ADMITTED

There is every sign in Rivers state that the incumbent governor of the state Sir Siminialayi Fubara is about to abdicate from his exhorted position as the duly elected executive governor of Rivers state.
He admitted this in a AIT Television interview he granted few days ago. The embattled Governor has been having problems with his political godfather over undisclosed issues which may not be unconnected to the distribution of the state cash and access to the Vault of Rivers state and maintenance of his godfather’s political structure in the state.
Governor Fubara in his live television show said” if leaving this position is what is needed to bring more peace to the state,I can even tell you people to come and take it. It is not about me. People should understand that definitely I will go but Rivers state will still remain. I am the governor, no matter what it is,there are things I could havr done and there would have been crisis. But your ability to restrain in the face of crises even when you have the power to do things is maturity.”
The palpable fear that is gripping the Rivers state Governor now is the fact that 2 months to his completing one year in office yet he has no tangible legacy project of his own to show. Each day he keeps on patroling city centre of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area searching for what to do for him to have credible thoughts and ideas on what to do.
Since December 15th,2023 when he last sat at the State Executive Council meeting he has been unable to hold another Executive Council meeting one of the reasons may not be unconnected with fear of facing the returnee Commissionets who resigned in en masse because of their loyalty to his predecessor Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike who’s now Minister of Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja. Any dislosure of vital information at the executive Council meeting must definitely be relayed to Nyesom Wike by his loyalists who have been forced down his throat by the 8 points presidential Proclamation for Peace by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. So, Rivers state Governor Fubara is truly about to resign from office because there’s nothing he do as an executive governor a rich state whose vault is allegedly under the control of his predecessor. Most revenue if the state it was gathered are tired to projects in advance with banks breathing down his throat to collect such money upfront from sources of allocation. An example of such remains the N200B Port Harcourt City ring road project which Julius Berger Construction Company had been paid about 75 percent of the total sum representing over N170B out other total money of N200B.
Currently, palliative care for cushioning the effects of bitting hunger among the citizens and residents of the state, Government of Rivers state is Clueless not knowing what to do. Recently the Rivers state Governor visit Garri Processing plant at Oyibo Local Government Area where he made pledge fir financial assistance whereas other states in the federation are making frantic efforts in addressing harsh economic hardship in the states but in Rivers state setting up Loan disbursement without adequate planning about Small, Medium Scale enterprises are facing hard times in accessing financial facilities for investment into their businesses. Farmers in he state are complaing each day for lack of adequate amounts of financial support..moribond state owned Songhai Farm located at Tai town in Tai Local Government Area of the state has remained in a collapsed state with promises of revitalisation without reopening it’s mother ragscy being Rivers state Sustainable Development Agency RSSDA created under the administration of Rt.Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi but abandoned by the government of Nyesom Wike for 8 years.
For Rivers state Governor Fubara ” no sacrifice will be too big for me to pay for the success of this administration. Ad te reason is very simple, it’s not political love, it’s not because I want to gain any favour from anybody. My interest and love fit our dear state is genuine. I am not trying to say I want to be one man who will be there to decide the fate of all but let Rivers state remain.”
From every known facts, Rivers state Governor Fubara is in a rush to get things done irrationally like his ability to demolish Ultra modern Rivers state House of Assembly in 2023 which was built in 2006 by former Governor Dr. Peter Odili and the demolition of the multi billion naira Uncompleted GRA ABA Road shopping Complex which was stated by Celestine Omehia in 2007.
What else will rattle Rivers state Governor Fubara next may be to demolish some.legacy projects of his predecessors in office.
