#EndSARS Organizers says there will be a peaceful Candle light Procession and a solemn Peace Walk Service in honour Victims of Police brutality in State tomorrow, Friday, October 16 and Saturday.
Perhaps cashing on the success of Tuesday’s # EndSARS peaceful protest in Port Harcourt, which recorded unprecedented success despite the earlier ban by Governor Nyesom Wike, who was compelled to address them after they waited for several hours Organizers say there will be a follow-up.
According to one of the Organizers, KO Baba Jornsen said the procession is billed to start by 4pm at Airforce Junction tomorrow, Friday October 16th and terminate at Waterline Junction is to be held in honour of victims of Police brutality in Rivers State, especially those who have lost their lives.
Comrade Enefaa Georgewill, Port Harcourt based Humanrights Activist and Chairman Rivers State Civil Society Organizations, in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent confirmed that his group is part of the Candle light Procession and it will hold as planned.
“We are part of Candle light Procession and it will hold tomorrow and Peace Walk on Saturday. I am a member of Central Working Committee.We just rose from our meeting”,
He said the group is already compiling names and profiles of the victims.He said prayers will be offered for the victims and their families and some persons will be given an opportunity to make speeches.
Jornsen assured that the March will be peaceful and solemn and that the appropriate authorities have been notified.
He said Friday’s procession will be followed by a Prayer Walk on Saturday by 7am.
At the time of filing this report, neither the Police Command headquarters or the State Government have reacted to the latest development.
