Eleme Chairman Battles Lawmakers

The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Rivers State, Barr. Philip Okparaji is now battling the last count of his administration life span with councilors in the area over what the lawmakers termed his inability to render records of his administration stewardship in the past two years.

Penultimate week, the Chairman was served with an impeachment notice by the lawmakers who are aggrieved that Barr.Okparaji has committed several financial wrongdoings.

The councilors have claimed that their action is based on their constitutional duty to the function’s a check  in the affairs of the councils’ administration in which they said the chairman is found culpable of gross and reckless financial wrongdoing in the council.

But, in a swift reaction, the chairman Barr. Okparji has refuted that he has not been served any impeachment notice and therefore, has committed nothing wrong to warranted such moves by the councilors.
