Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have pledged their full support to working with well meaning people and groups for the realisation of the mandate of having an Ekiti son as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the next presidential elections.
Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye made the pledge while receiving in audience a group of Eminent Ekiti indigenes under the auspices of “Our Belief Project” who came to seek the support of the Assembly members to pressurized Governor Kayode Fayemi to contest for the post of President in the 2023 presidential elections.
The Speaker, who spoke in the presence of other lawmakers of the Assembly, remarked that the House members are witnesses to the sterling qualities of Governor Fayemi which had led to transformation of Ekiti State for good.
He noted that if given a higher responsibility, the members believed that he will surely not disapoint.
Rt Hon Afuye described the members of the Our Belief Project as me and women that were known widely and had shown commitment to the development of Ekiti state.
He remarked that the candidature of Dr Kayode Fayemi in the forthcoming presidential elections should make any Ekiti man proud.

He said that Governor Fayemi had been administering Ekiti State the way late Chief Obafemi Awolowo governed the old western region, however with a modern touch.
“You don’t need to preach to us, we are with you on this and we promise to give you our full support” the Speaker concluded.
Earlier, the leader of the Our Belief Project, Chief Adewunmi Abejide, who is also the Chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission goes down memory lane and said it is long overdue to have an Ekiti man for the nations top job.
Chief Abejide said the group had visited and consulted notable leaders and traditional rulers across Yoruba land and it’s crystal cleared that Governor Fayemi is the best man for the job.
He called on the House members, being representative of their various constituencies, to join well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on the Governor to hearken to the voice of the people by contesting the presidency in the year 2023.
In his contributions, a member of the group, Hon Femi Aregbesola, praised the lawmakers for their support and commitment for the transformation of Ekiti as contained in the vision of Governor Fayemi.
He pointed out that the group comprised of eminent indigenes such as former Deputy Governor, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko and Barr. Paul Omotoso.
He called for the support of the lawmakers towards achieving success in the Group objective.
Other members of the group on the visit are, Hon Mojisola Fafure and Alhaja Mariam Ogunlade.
