A Lagos-based businessman, Kayode Olubunmi Ojo, has joined the governorship race in Ekiti State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said infrastructure development is a priority in the rural state, urging the people to explore a paradigm shift and aspire for the continuity of good governance, which foundation was laid by Governor Kayode Fayemi.
He said a government of continuity should build on the foundation in the interest of Ekitiland.
Describing Ekiti as a sophisticated and politically conscious state, he said the electorate will vote for the best candidate on a progressive platform.
Ojo spoke with reporters in Lagos on his ambition, plans and preparation for the primary and the election.
On the clamour by some people for zoning to Ekiti South Senatorial District, the aspirant said Ekiti is one zone united by common language and culture.
He added: “I am not saying that the Southern people don’t have people, we have great people in Ekiti South but the way Ekiti is structured, everybody is going to go to the polls and Ekiti people will choose who they want”.
“It doesn’t matter where the person comes from. The person may could even in fact be Mrs. Oloro, which is Governor Fayemi’s elder sister. If she is the best, so be it. I believe Ekiti electorates are extremely sophisticated and they are going to choose who they want, irrespective of where the person comes from.”
Ojo said infrastructure development will be pursued so that a conducive atmosphere can be created for investment to thrive.
“If we want to talk about fairness and equity, it is a contest between able-bodied men and it has always been like that from day one. So, for fairness and equity, let everyone go to the field, work, ask for people to vote and be voted for.”
