Double tragedy at UNIPORT: UNIPORT loses Director of Works, Emeritus Professor Ex-VC

Barely two days after the demise of the 5th Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Emeritus Professor Nimi Briggs, the University has also lost its Director of Works and Services to Engr Frank Ogali to an auto crash.
According to Sam Kpenu,the Spokesman of the University, Ogali died late last(Wednesday) night in an auto crash at the Olobo Premier College while making a U-turn of the East-west road, close to the University’s main gate.
His remains have been deposited at the mortuary.
“Engr Ogali was a jolly good fellow and friend to all. Since he took over the affairs of the Works and Services department, there has been tremendous improvement in the quality of services rendered to the university”.
Meanwhile, the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association, Rivers State Chapter, has expressed shock over the death of her former VIce Chancellor – Emiritus Professor Nimi Briggs.
A statement jointly signed by Mr. Sam Woka and Dr. Christian Ojobah on behalf of the Board of Advisors and members of the Chapter, described the death of the late Emiritus Professor of Medicine as a collosal loss to the University community and the Nigerian educational sector at large.
“Prof. Briggs was an outstanding educationist, an exceptional professional and an administrator per-excellence whom we are proud of, and equally greatful to God to have associated with”.
“The late Emiritus Professor was an adopted member and a dear friend of the Rivers State Chapter who was always there to support and guide the Alumni Association over the years”.
“It is a huge shock and we cannot begin to quantify the immeasurable contribution Prof. Briggs had in the development of the Nigerian educational sector and all who were lucky to have passed through the Unique University of Port Harcourt.”
