Dino Melaye Defects to PDP

Embattled Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West senatorial district on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) resumed in the Senate this morning and has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

 

He announced his defection on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday morning which caused confusion as APC and PDP senators exchanged words over the defection.

 

Melaye had been away from the Senate, since over a month, when the Nigerian Police arrested him and he was subsequently admitted at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital, Abuja.

Appearing with clutches and neck support to Wednesday’s plenary, Melaye said he was no longer comfortable sitting on his seat at the wing of the All Progressive Congress (APC), saying he has cross over to the wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
