Degi Eremienyo Bayelsa APC Governorship candidate reacts to Court disqualification

…Judgement is laughable, will not stand will appeal— Degi

***It won’t affect Saturday’s election – INEC

Ibrahim Bakare

A Federal High Court in Abuja has disqualified the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress-APC for Bayelsa State in Saturday’s election, Senator Degi Eremienyo for Submitting False Information to INEC.

The case was instituted by the Peoples Democratic Party-PDP alleging that Degi lied on oath in his claims regarding his academic qualifications submitted in his INEC form.

Justice Inyang Ekwo established that the claims were true, and in a judgement ordered that INEC should not recognize the nomination of Bishop Degi Eremienyo as the APC Deputy Governorship candidate.

Meanwhile the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC in the November 16 poll in Bayelsa state Senator Degi Eremienyo says he will be heading to the Appeal court.

Degi Eremienyo in a telephone interview with Journalists in Yenagoa said the judgement cannot stand as he had been using the same qualifications for a long time.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission has said INEC’S preparations for the Bayelsa State Governorship election will not be affected by a court judgement, which disqualified the APC Deputy Governorship candidate in the State.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu said this in Lokoja the Capital of Kogi State on Tuesday during a meeting with political actors and others involved in the governorship and Senatorial re-run elections in Kogi West.
