Crisis Looms In Rivers Community Over Traditional Stool      …As Wike, Awuse Fingered

Tempers and tension is already heightened amongst members of Mgbor royal House in Rumuche, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State over who will succeed late Amb. Vincent Chituru Benson Okor, Nen- Nwe- Eli Emohua kingdom.

The deceased  monarch was penultimate week buried in grand style; following all traditional rites by the Emohua Council of Chiefs.

in a Swift calculation, one of the peoples Democratic Party ,PDP chieftain in the State, Chief Sergeant Chidi Awuse, was immediately recognized as a first class traditional ruler of Emohua kingdom- therefore sending a controversial signal for protest and counter protest against the new development.

A source from the community has told the Towncrier, that the recognition of Chief Awuse didn’t follow due process, more so, he Awuse is not from the royal linage of the Mgbor royal House.

However, the death of  Eze Benson Okor, created a vacuum and therefore  fresh controversy over who should rightly succeed him as the rightful occupant of the stool.

since the demised of the late king, there had been some secret moves both external and internal forces that  had crept into the Rumuche royal House with the likes of Chief Sergeant Chidi Awuse, being fingered as playing the pervert way and taking through the back door to want to succeed the late traditional ruler.

Some Mgbor, Rumuche  community members, in a protest accused the Rivers State governor Barr. Nyesom Wike, of meddlesomeness in the affairs and traditions of the people of Emohua kingdom.

Penultimate week, some elders, chiefs and youths from the community took to the streets especially around the Mgborba axis of the Rumukuta/NTA road in protest of the development.

The group with several placards with  inscriptions such as: ” Every clan has its traditions, customs and culture. Mgbor stool is not for sale”

“Awuse Live Us Alone”

“Eze Onnekwa is our King and king of Emohua”

Speaking at the sideline of the protest, Chief Stephen Ngozi, told journalists, that they were reliably informed that the governor Barr. Nyesom Wike, was about taking the backdoor to install one Chief Sergeant Awuse as the monarch of the area.

Chief Ngozi, added that, what baffles him over all the development in the stool is that the said Sergeant Awuse is not from the royal linage of the community, adding that from all indications, what governor Wike, has done is against the community and the cultural heritage of the people of Emohua.

Chief Ngozi, however, appealed to the  governor to stay clear of the chieftain issue rather than taking side with any one .

But, Chief Sergeant Chidi Awuse, and the state governor Barr. Nyesom Wike are yet to respond to the issue surrounding the Mgbor Rumuche chieftain issue.
