This is not the best of times for the All Progressives Congress APC, Rivers State as it battles to retrieve alleged stolen mandate the Election Petition Tribunal in the governorship and other elections in the state as a Port Harcourt High Court sacks the Chairman, Emeka Beke and the Legal Adviser, Ifeanyichukwu Azubuike.
Their sack is sequel to an exparte order granted by Justice D.G.Kio, following an application jointly filed by some members of the State Working Committee, among who are Omite Eferebo, Chidi Nweke, Chike Enyinda and seven others.
In a sworn affidavit by members they said they have passed vote of no confidence in the leadership of the Chairman and the Legal Adviser and demanded that the court bar them from parading themselves as Chairman and Legal Adviser respectively.
They also sought for an order of Court restraining them from interfering in the activities of the executive committee of the party, pending the determination of the substantive case.
Their prayers were granted by Justice Kio and the case was adjourned to April 19,2023 for hearing of motion on notice.
Recall that Darlington Nwauju, the Spokesman of the party had raised alarm that some aggrieved members who are accused of working clandestinely with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, allegedly boasted that they will resort to the use of the judiciary to sack the leadership of the party, to weaken it’s battle at the tribunal.
