Court orders Felix Obuah to appear before police

Court orders Felix Obuah

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, has asked the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state, Felix Obuah, to honour the invitation of the state Police Command for interrogation over killings in parts of the state.

The ruling of the court yesterday followed a petition which fingered Obuah in the killings recorded in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state before, during and after the 2015 general election.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state had petitioned the police over the killings recorded in ONELGA in 2015, accusing the state chairman of PDP, of gun-running and sponsoring the ONELGA killings.

However, the state police command had invited all those mentioned in the petition, but the PDP Chairman challenged his invitation in court, accusing former Governor Chibuike Amaechi of political witch-hunt.

After over three years of hearing on the suit, the trial judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli dismissed the application of the PDP Chairman as lacking in merit.

Justice Enebeli held that the police has the right within the law to invite any individual for questioning on any report of crime and asked the applicant to do same.
