Fatuhu Muhammad, a member representing Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua Federal Constituency, has lost his re-election bid on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Mr Muhammad, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, lost the primaries to Aminu Jamu in the two-horse race.
Announcing the results on Friday night at Daura Local Government Secretariat, the returning officer, Bala Zango, said Aminu Jamu polled 117 votes to emerge as the winner.
He added that that Fatuhu Muhammad came second with 30 votes.
In October 2018, three aspirants for the Daura/Sandamu/Maiadua Federal Constituency protested the alleged imposition of Mr Muhammad, saying the party and the state government were unjust to them.
In a joint statement, the three aspirants, Salisu Daura, Aminu Jamu and Kabir Abdullahi, criticized the state government and party for injustice, bias and subversion of electoral process.
“It is sad and unfortunate that the government of Katsina State and the entire APC machinery have taken sides with all plans perfected to subvert the electoral process in favour of an anointed candidate.
“We view this as an affront to democracy and good governance and replay of the years of the locust (ie PDP). In defence of democracy therefore we have decided to totally reject the processes so far put in place for the election and call for a direct primary election,” the aspirants said four years ago.
