Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Senator Babafemi Ojudu said Atiku wants to be the president by all means, gave the counsel to the Adamawa born Atiku while speaking on Sunrise Daily, a morning programme on Channels TV on Tuesday.
Advised Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to in all honesty, tell Nigerians his true reasons for quitting the All Progressive Party, APC, to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, instead of accusing the ruling party of failure to deliver on promises.
Ojudu said instead of reeling out accusations against the ruling party, the former Vice President should be honest by telling Nigerians of his desperation to rule Nigeria while age is running out on him.
“Atiku is playing his last card; he wants to be the president by all means; for whatever reason, I don’t know but he has the right to be.
“This President is about to spend his four years, when he has right within the law to do another four years.
“After four years, it is likely that power would go another part of the country and if that happens, and if Atiku stays within our party, it means nobody would even consider him after the President has spent his eight years.
“Atiku should just have spoken the truth, and come to Nigerians and say ‘I know how to solve the problems and do things better, but you know, time is running out of me and calculations are not in my favour in this party and this is why I’m moving to another party.”
“But for him to run down the party, denigrate it as if it’s nothing, to me that’s not it,” Ojudu noted.
The presidential adviser said although President Muhammadu Buhari’s government is yet to meet all aspirations of Nigerians, the administration is consistent on putting the right planning in place while delivering on the mandate of the APC and making corruption unattractive in public service.
Similarly, the journalist turned politician debunked Atiku’s claim on massive job loss in the Buhari’s government, saying that cannot be true considering the success of policies like the Anchors Borrowers Programme where lot of jobs have been created in the informal sector.
He called on Nigerians to give President Buhari more time and insisting that the administration was on the right course to deliver good governance and make lives of average Nigerians better.
