Atiku has solution to Nigeria’s problems -Duro Faseyi

…tasks PDP NWC to wade into Ekiti crisis

Ahead of 2023 Presidential election, a Senator at the 8th National Assembly, Duro Faseyi has charged members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who left for the Social Democratic Party pre June 18 Ekiti State gubenatorial election to return to the party without further delay, saying the PDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will proffer solution to the problems ravaging the country.

The senator also called on the Sen. Iyorchia Ayu-led National Working Committee(NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to as a matter of utmost urgency wade into the crisis that has pinned down the party for the past 3 years in Ekiti State, saying many have refused to come back because they have not seen enough commitment from the national body in fixing the problem that sent them out of the party in the first place.

Faseyi, who said nobody builds a house and destroy it added that the support for SDP in the last election was to prove to the world that a tree does not make a forest.

Faseyi who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency II (Ido/Osi, Moba and Ilejemeje) between 2003-2007 and 2007-2011 before serving as Senator between 2015 and 2019, made these assertions at Iludun Ekiti, his county home during a meeting with executives of the SDP (former PDP members) on Tuesday.

”I want to use this opportunity to call on the NWC of our great party, to look into Ekiti PDP matter, a large number of our members are still out there, they are lethargic about coming back home, they feel abandoned, they want the national to come to their aid, please do something quick, Faseyi said.

Blaming the mass exodus of PDP members to SDP on former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose’s high handedness, selfishness, greed and wickedness, Faseyi said; “it should be on record that we were never against our party PDP, we only supported the guber candidate of SDP, Asiwaju Segun Oni in that election to wipe some individuals into line.

“We made a very loud statement in that election and I hope lessons have been learnt, we have proved that politics is a game of numbers, we have proved that leaders are nobody without their followers, we have showed that followers must be treated with honour, dignity and respect

Faseyi, however, said having showed the world that power belongs to the ordinary people, it is time to return home (PDP), rejig the party and work selflessly with others for the success of the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“Having made our points known, it is time to come back home and return the People’s Democratic Party to her place of pride by working selflessly for the success of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 presidential election.

“Our sabbatical is over. We built PDP and it is time to return home. The task to rescue Nigeria lies on our shoulders and we can only get desired result by coming together to support our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“Atiku needs no introduction, fact is he has been preparing for this job for more than 30 years, he knows the problems so well and has the solution. All we have to do is come together and work for his victory at the polls, Faseyi said.

Also at the meeting to address the SDP leaders was a former executive member of the People’s Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Hon. Joshua Oladimeji.

Oladimeji ,who is the immediate past Ekiti PDP Organising Secretary said like many others, he never thought a day would come that he would leave the PDP.

“I left in protest against former governor Ayo Fayose’s rapaciousness. You will re-call we were close, I can attest to the fact that he doesn’t mean well for PDP, he only saw the party as a business venture. He traded the people for way too long, he said.

Oladimeji said Fayose’s influence in the party has been whittled down considerably. He admonished those who left the party to see the forthcoming presidential election as the bigger picture and work with leaders of like minds for the success of the candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
