AGEGE RESIDENTS IN MIXED FEELINGS OVER OBASA’S PREDICAMENTS

Judging by the mirage of allegations and controversial bombardments against the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the crew of towncrier.ng stormed the immediate constituency of the number three man in Lagos State, Agege to conduct a vox pop which revealed that residents of the area are in mixed feelings over the many recent allegations labelled about the lawmaker. Firstly, he was accused of being insensitive to the feelings of his constituents during the menacing lockdown that heralded the weird period of the corona virus. He was said to have approved the distribution of breards worth a token N100 for each house in the constituency. This move was said to have met the painful side of his people who turned the bread to football, kicking them across all streets in Agege Constituency 1.

Without allowing this degrading news to go off the air, his detractors went into more business as they stormed the social media disseminating other of his atrocities which includes the lavishing of a whooping N17 million for the renovation of his guest house and the approval of more than N200 million for the printing of an invitation card. Not done yet, his media enemies also accused him of running a flabbergasting 64 accounts in different banks, opening them with several names and having different BVN numbers. Since the revelation of all these allegations and accusations, the Speaker was said to have been doing everything within his financial capacity to pacify members of the fourth estate of the realm, journalists to readdress the issues and lay the records straight.

Not relying on how the outcome of his media response would be, our crew at towncrier.ng asked questions and got responses from those directly affected by the Speaker’s alleged financial flamboyance, the people of Agege who are divided as some are strictly against these allegations calling them libelous and malicious while others supported the supposed enemies by corroborating their allegations. We also scooped that the battle Obasa is currently facing may not be unconnected with some powerful stalwarts of his party who want him out of the system by all means due to the seeming big sticks he is wielding in the party, the APC which may catapult him to the Red Chambers of the national assembly in 2023 to the detriment of an incumbent member.
