Senator Magnus Abe, former Senator representing Rivers South East has finally confirmed his membership of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Rivers State.
Abe made the confirmation this morning through his Facebook post:
Yes, I am and I have been a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.
We will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people.
Abe had dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, about two weeks ago after about seven years of a running battle with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi former Minister of Transportation and former Governor of the State said:
“I remain irrevocably committed to the ideals that have driven my politics through the years.
“We will continue to do all we can to improve internal democracy in the politics of our country and focus on the people”.
Our Correspondent reports that in latest publication by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC Rivers State, Maurice Pronen his Ogoni kinsman was listed as the Governorship candidate of SDP.
However, it has been pointed out that the Electoral Act allows or permit the substitution of anybody’s name on the ground of death or voluntary withdrawal.
Abe has always boasted to anyone who cares to listen that “I must be on the ballot and I will win and become Governor of Rivers State.”
Since he left APC he launched SMA Project (Senator Magnus Abe) Governorship ambition project to actualize his dream to occupy the number one seat in Government House, Port Harcourt.
Just yesterday, Abe threw shades at Governor Nyesom Wike to stop referring to Siminalayi Fubara, the Governorship candidate of PDP as the incoming Rivers Governor, by reminding him that Rivers People will be the only ones who will choose their next Governor.
The former Senator criticized Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for referring to the PDP candidate for governor as the state’s incoming governor.
The governor had predicted that any PDP candidate would prevail in the state’s governorship race in 2023 based on the effectiveness of his administration.
However, Senator Abe claimed yesterday that the people of Rivers State, not Wike, would elect the next governor in a statement made by his media assistant, Pastor Parry Benson.
He said, “If the President of Nigeria, who is more powerful than the governor, cannot decide who will be the next president to succeed him, then the Governor of Rivers State cannot decide who will succeed him.
