2023: Senator Al-Makura Says Report On Leaving APC Is Fake

Immediate past governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has described as fake news, a now-viral report that he’s set to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former governor who now represents Nasarawa South district at the Nigerian Senate dismissed the speculation in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Danjuma Joseph.

According to the report, Senator Al-Makura had concluded plans to dump the ruling party for the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to seek second term in the 2023 general elections.

Reacting however, the lawmaker was quoted as saying he has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he was a founding member in 2013.

“I will be seeking a fresh mandate under the APC,’’ he added.

He therefore urged supporters and the general public to disregard the report in its entirety and assured constituents of more dividends of democracy if reelected in 2023.
