Wike, Amaechi And The Politics That We Must Learn

By John Amaowoh.

Although, all political activities pointing to party primaries of all political parties have come and gone, but not without any good lesson to learn.

On this backdrop, my focus is critically on the Rivers State Governor Barr. Nyesom Wike, who was until the presidential primary of the People’s Democratic Party,(PDP) the focus and centre man of attraction.

Of course, by all sense of fairness and good judgement, Barr. Nyesom Wike, did fairly well to the best of my knowledge and the best that any man could go outside the will of the Creator.

Just as Whittle Schuller would put it “decision is the key to changing your life” indeed Governor Nyesom Wike, made a good decision to reaching another height and Mike Murdock however chips in that “You will never leave where you are until you decide where you rather be”

He came second after wrestling with the challenges of third world politics characterized with  betrayal, ethnicity, tribalism etc with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar former vice president. Yes, he went, saw and finished up where destiny had destined for him to stop.

Indeed… there is a bitter truth that we must tell ourselves if we must correct certain mistakes and impressions that need to be corrected among us the people of the south south and the South East.

We must think of a system or way we could define a system that will suit us and stop playing second fiddle things.

We must understand what other regions understand. We must be ready no matter our size. After all, Britain and Israelis are smaller countries but no big nation’s toys with them.

So if we can carvanised and harness our potentials into one reasoning meter that will read the minds of, all of us, politically, economically, academically, etc. Then the sky can not only be our limit but we can well reach that height that we have been craving for.

In this, election is all about reaching out… and nobody can assume the dividend of omnipotent and super knowledge about all these things except the Creator.

The presidential primary was to as well test the best in an individual ability especially to human relationship with a clear focus to where and when it pinches us in terms of someone that refuses to yield and heed to the advice of good conscience.

Before the primary, governor Wike was loudly warned by labour and pensioners including others that were not very louder concerning labour friendly wages that Wike couldn’t have undermined.

I think that he could have assembled some best of brains that would have  advised him about what to do and what not to do, instead of him assuming that he knows it all.

On the other hand, his predecessor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, did the same mistake by allowing himself to be wallowing in rift with his former Commissioner, Senator Magnus Abe.

To me, I think this rift was not necessary because it is only our creator that is without a fault. Times, we must behave as if we are God. We must like to be human and remember that we shall take nothing out of this world.

A lot happened so that some of us would learn in the course of us trying.

To even digress a little, our brother Rotimi Amaechi, by this point I think he must have discovered his mistakes and I do believe that he will learn from it no matter how you want to simplify the language of somebody that hates you he / she would never love you.

I equally think that Ameachi and Wike never learnt anything outside being strong disciples of erstwhile Governor Dr. Peter Odili, who equally made some great attempt to scare up that insurmountable height of the divided politics of Nigeria characterized by ethnicity, tribalism and corruption.

Of course, governance in Nigeria is now reduced to tribal and majority ethnic groups’ affairs. And those with bags of money instead of people with proven qualities are allowed, but the money bags continue to toy with the destinies of millions of us.

Governor Nyesom Wike And Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, emergence as the workhorses of revolution, trapped by the logic of their own doctrines as they drifted leftwards from dissent to political down ladder of self-styles godfathers, who under minds the strongest forces of making and building people.

With all sense of fairness, Amaechi surpasses his successor in terms of building and making people.

Amaechi’s transformation with all fairness surpasses some many leaders but as humans we are susceptible to faults but we must try to escape from  these mistakes and challenge ourselves to that costly heights.

Like Koko Okamoto, the Japanese gunman of Lydda, they believed that theorizing was not enough. They scorned  Egusi and Afang soup radicalism and took to assuming the role of self-style godfathers.

Like Wike who never considered what happened to erstwhile governor Dr. Peter Odili, who was honoured at the highest height and later allowed to crash at his needing time.

Dr. Peter Odili, did all that he could but was betrayed by the same players when he needed them most.

However, the two Rivers sons have shown their capacity that they are not the type of politicians to be toyed with when it comes to matching their words with action.

Of course, their outing has also shown that people of other regions of the country must recognize that indeed this country belongs to all and not for a particular region that has perpetually continued to rule and undermines the feelings of others.

Let end here with the words of Aristotle “the basis of a democratic state is liberty”

And also a warning to Amaechi and Wike, from the words of Herodotus “of all miseries, the bitterest is this, to know so much and to have control over nothing”

Therefore, Pericles submitted that “what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others”.
